Mineral Color Wash Glaze is the second step in a creative and unique wall finish that is reminiscent of Limewash, without the many “fussy” steps. Simply paint your walls with Interior Mineral Paint, in a coordinating color, then use our special color washing brush to apply glaze until your walls look exactly as you wish.

Mineral Wall Paint is a pure mineral silicate interior paint that is extremely beautiful and healthy to use and live with. Mineral Paint radiates ambient light in a unique way. The crystalline microporous surface breaks up and diffuses light for a “lively” appearance. Light dances across the crystalline surface to create unique tonal variations from morning to night. The luxurious feel of Mineral Paint is due to subtle texture delivered from tiny quartz particles. You’ve most likely never experienced the look and feel of mineral paints. No synthesized chemicals or additives, like ordinary paint, so you need not fear allergic reactions.
Mineral Wall Paint is extremely healthy to use and is earth friendly. It contains no added volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) and no allergens. It meets or exceeds all local, state, or national environmental guidelines. Manufacturing processes are designed with minimum impact on the environment. Mineral Paint is very vapor permeable and allows indoor walls to breathe naturally to remain drier and provide a healthier indoor environment.
Use on interior walls and ceilings of masonry, brick, stucco, drywall and plaster. Self-priming on both bare and previously painted surfaces. Not for use on wood trim, doors, windows or floors. May be over-glazed with Mineral Stain and Glaze, for even more artistic options.

2 coats of Mineral Wall Paint are recommended for best appearance and durability. Coverage will vary depending on the type of surface, porosity and texture as well as application methods, equipment and workmanship.

You will need an extra bucket, painter’s tape, drop cloths a paint roller with a 3/8” or ½” cover, paint brush, stir stick, paint tray and liner, ladder, if necessary, dampened cloth to clean up spatters, latex gloves and eye protection.
Previously painted surfaces should be clean and free of loose or peeling paint, dirt, grease, mold and mildew or other household grime and the surface should by dry. New drywall and plaster should be sanded smooth with all dust removed. One coat of Mineral Primer is recommended on new drywall to even-out the absorption and improve appearance of Mineral Paint.
Mix Mineral Wall Paint thoroughly until homogonous and no color streaks remain. Do not thin paint, it is supplied ready-to-apply. If you are using multiple buckets of the same color it is recommended to “box” colors by mixing multiple buckets into larger bucket to ensure a more uniform color. Never stop painting in the middle of a wall, but paint from corner to corner. Mineral Paint dries rapidly so work quickly to maintain a wet edge. If an edge dries out before you can continue, you may use a mister bottle with water to dampen the dry edge and continue applying paint. Cut-in with a wall brush and avoid heavy edges or brush marks. Only cut-in what you can paint within 30 minutes. Cutting in the entire room may lead to visible “seams”. While cut-in paint is fresh, use a 3/8—1/2” nap synthetic roller to roll into damp cut-in for best results. Apply to cover uniformly without runs or sags. Work from top to bottom and corner to corner. For best appearance, “lay-off” your wet rolled paint with “dry” roller from top to bottom to ensure uniform texture. This also helps to even out excess paint build-up from overlapping roller patterns. Allow to dry 2—4 hours.
Reapply a second coat as above, for best appearance and durability. Allow to dry overnight.
Avoid drips, spills and painting adjacent areas. Clean up spills immediately with a damp cloth as it will be difficult to remove once dried. Clean tools with soap and warm water.
Dry to touch: 1—2 hours at 70°F and 50% R.H.
Recoat: 2—4 hours
KEIM LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY
KEIM Mineral Coatings of America, Inc. (“KMC”) warrants interior and exterior coatings purchased at https://keim-usa.com/ (the “Product”) to be free from defects in workmanship. If the Product, when applied according to paint specifications and label instructions, peels, blisters, or substantially fades from exposure to sunlight within 20 years from the date of purchase, KMC shall, at its own discretion, replace the defective Product free of charge. Such replacement is subject to verification of the defect or malfunction and presentation of proof of purchase of the Product to KMC.
This Limited Warranty does not apply to any defect or damage that is caused by (1) negligence, accident, abuse, or misuse of the Product; (2) improper surface preparation or any defects or shortcoming of the substrate, to which the Product is applied; (3) poor or improper storage, transportation, application, use, care or maintenance of the Product; (4) normal wear and tear or unauthorized use of the Product; (5) unauthorized application of, or modification to, the Product; and (6) unsatisfactory color due to a personal preference. This Limited Warranty may not be transferred or assigned. This is your sole remedy under this Warranty.
KMC’S ENTIRE LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED EXCLUSIVELY TO PROVIDING REPLACEMENT PRODUCT. THIS WARRANTY EXCLUDES (1) LABOR AND COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH LABOR FOR THE APPLICATION OR REMOVAL OF ANY PRODUCT AND (2) ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

To receive a return authorization, email us at orders@keim.com and include your original order number and the number of items you seek to return. While our employees can provide estimated consumption quantities, these are general guidelines and don’t account for specific project details like surface complexity or application methods. It’s your responsibility as the buyer to calculate precise product consumption, and we highly recommend performing a trial application or observing the first day’s use to ensure you order the correct amount. apply Mineral Paint as basecoat
First, apply Interior Mineral Wall Paint to create the ideal base for color washing. Please note that Color Wash Glaze will not adhere to old latex or acrylic paint, so it is necessary to prime the surface first. For a muted, cozy effect, choose a soft white. If you want a more dramatic look with greater color contrast, opt for a darker base. It’s best to select a base color that complements the glaze color, as highcontrast combinations can be more challenging to apply.
Allow the paint to dry overnight before applying the glaze. This step is crucial; if the base paint is not completely dry, the glazing will not work successfully.
fully remix the glaze
Color Wash Glaze is a thin-bodied product, similar to wood stain, and the colors may separate during shipping. It is crucial to thoroughly stir or agitate the glaze before and during use. Since mineral pigments are heavy, they can settle at the bottom of the container.
Use a stir stick to scrape the pigment from the bottom of the can and mix it thoroughly until there are no streaks of color remaining. Or you can use a power drill with a paint paddle attachment, being sure to scrape all the pigment up off the bottom of each can you use.
During application remix your glaze frequently, at least every 30 minutes, to ensure a uniform color wash technique.
To achieve a stunning finish, apply the glaze with our PRO or DIY Limewash/Color Wash Brush in a delightful, random pattern, adding your personal creative touch.
Experiment with a puzzle-like effect and feel free to overlap as you colorwash for a unique look. Continue your random application until the brush has no more glaze, then reload.
Step back to scan your work and be sure you will be happy with the look. If you have too much glaze in an area, use a spray bottle filled with water to mist the area, then use a dry brush to redistribute the glaze. If you want more glaze in any area reload your brush, release most of the glaze by swiping the brush against the side of the can and add more glaze to areas you think are too light.
Pro Tip: Random patterns and glaze density are keys to a truly creative appearance. Avoid repetitive brush strokes; some should be short, others longer, some upward, some downward. You get the picture.
The glaze remains workable for about 15—30 minutes, depending on your room’s conditions. Warm, dry air will dry the glaze more quickly; cool, damp air will give you more time to move it around.
Pro Tip: The glaze is beautifully thin and transparent, so be sure to protect your floors and furniture. To minimize drips, dry your brush against the side of the can—make sure it’s damp, not dripping wet —for the best results! Let your creativity flow!
