Introducing ContactPlus Bonding Primer – your essential first step for preparing all varieties of masonry for a flawless finish.
ContactPlus is specially formulated to enhance adhesion while filling small gaps, crevices, and imperfections. Its unique blend of sol silicate binder, quartz granules, glass fibers, and white pigment effectively fills cracks up to 1/32”, delivering a beautiful “sandy” texture that revitalizes aged or weather-worn surfaces. This subtle texture, akin to 100-grit sandpaper, helps diffuse sunlight on larger areas, elevating the overall appearance.
Using ContactPlus is not just a prep step; it’s a swift, straightforward solution to achieve the stunning results you desire, whether you’re applying Mineral Masonry Paint or European Limewash as the final touch on your home.
Ensure your hard work looks its best!

Mineral Bonding Primer is a sol silicate lightly textured mineral based primer designed to prepare exterior new and previously painted masonry surfaces and glossy or tough to paint surfaces for painting with mineral paints. It provides tenacious adhesion and is ideal when multiple types of surfaces and textures are present. The sand texture minimizes the appearance of small surface defects and tends to bring variable textures and surfaces into a more uniform visual appearance. It provides added adhesion when renovating or coating sound acrylic and silicone resin-based coatings. Use on new and previously painted brick, stone, stucco and concrete fiber cement siding. It is required when using Limewash over existing acrylic/latex painted surfaces, but is not required for use with Mineral Masonry Paint.
Coverage will vary depending on the type of surface, porosity and texture as well as application methods, equipment and workmanship. When painting brick, we suggest adding 25% to your area to account for painting all edges of bricks.
Quart 50—65 square feet
Gallon 225—250 square feet
4 Gallon 900—1000 square feet
You will need an extra bucket, painter’s tape, drop cloths a paint roller with a 3/8” or ½” cover, paint brush, stir stick, paint tray and liner, ladder if necessary, dampened cloth to clean up spatters, latex gloves and eye protection.
Previously painted surfaces should be clean and free of loose or peeling paint, dirt, grease, mold and mildew or other household grime and the surface should by dry. New brick, stone, stucco and fiber cement siding should be dry, sound and free of dirt, dust or other contaminants. One coat of primer is required most surfaces. Deeply textured or extremely porous surfaces may require two coats.
Stir Primer until smooth and homogenous. Use a paint brush to cut in around edges and corners then use a paint roller to apply primer to remaining area. It is best to roll into damp cut in paint to avoid creating a “ridge” between dry and wet primer. Apply primer in an even coat with no runs, sags or holidays. Avoid drips, spills and painting adjacent areas. Clean up spills immediately with a damp cloth as it will be difficult to remove once dried. Clean tools with soap and warm water.
Dry to touch: 2—4 hours at 70°F and 50% R.H.
Recoat: 12 hours
