For high-traffic areas, we recommend adding a matte flat, penetrating finish that enhances durability while preserving the authentic look you love. CLEAR MATTE FLAT FINISH
Introducing our premium Clear Matte Flat Finish—a traditional acrylic, water-based formula designed to safeguard your Limewash while maintaining its stunning appearance. This finish offers reliable protection against water penetration and everyday grime, ensuring your surfaces stay looking pristine. Our acrylic formula creates a protective film that, while slightly muting Limewash’s natural beauty, delivers moderate surface protection against routine cleaning.
Please note, it is not vapor-permeable, which means it seals Limewash under a non-porous clear matte layer.
Application is a breeze! Simply brush or roll it on after allowing your Limewash to dry for at least 48 hours. With low odor and easy water cleanup, it’s perfect for any project. For enhanced durability, consider applying a second coat; just keep in mind that two layers will add more visual depth to your Limewashed surfaces.

To Treat or Not to Treat: The Balance of Durability and Aesthetics
Limewash is cherished for its natural, chemical-free composition, centuries-old heritage, and the alluring charm of its subtly textured, chalky finish that boasts amazing depth of color. This unique surface is a major part of its appeal, drawing admiration for its character and authenticity. However, it’s essential to recognize that while Limewash captivates with its beauty, its delicate surface may not endure the daily demands of household living in the same way standard paints do.
For those who prefer a traditional approach, we provide an acrylic matte flat finish. While it contains polymers, it remains low in VOCs and easy to apply, offering moderate abrasion resistance and a respectable level of water resistance.
An additional perk of using Limewash we haven’t touched on yet is its effortless touch-up process. Maintaining that fresh-painted look is incredibly simple with Limewash; any scratches or blemishes can be seamlessly blended in by applying a bit more of the product as needed. Just remember to store any unused Limewash in an airtight container, labeled clearly, and kept away from heat and UV light. If you find it thick after storage, add a splash of water to achieve the desired consistency!
